Headteacher
Mrs Deborah Bertram
I have worked in the Primary sector for the last 27 years having worked in a wide variety of schools across the country and abroad and have been a Deputy Head in 3 different schools for a total of 10 years as well as serving as Acting Head in 2 school settings. I have worked successfully in two Multi-Academy Trusts and am very much looking forward to working collaboratively with the Create Learning Trust.
I feel extremely honoured and privileged to be appointed the Headteacher at Sandiway and will continue to build upon the success of the school. I am very much looking forward to working with the whole school community to achieve the very best outcomes for our children through our vision of 'Growing and achieving Together'.
Outside of school I love spending time with my family, reading the latest children's book and travelling as much as possible. I am passionate about mental health and wellbeing, swim daily and regularly practise yoga.

Mrs Susan Walters
Susan is an experienced senior leader and consultant within primary education, with a wealth of experience in school improvement. As headteacher, Susan was described by Ofsted as ‘a highly inspirational and exemplary leader with an unrelenting approach to making the school the very best it can be.’ Whilst headteacher at Mill View Primary School for eleven years she led the school from a ‘satisfactory’ judgment to achieving three ‘outstanding judgements.’ Her belief is every child should be given the best opportunities to develop a love of learning and achieve highly through engaging leaders to be self-critical, reflective, and evaluative. Her leadership experience includes 11 years as a Primary school headteacher, Inspector of schools, local authority school improvement partner, Lead education adviser, Local authority disadvantaged pupil lead, Lead facilitator for national trainers, Strategic leader of national school improvement, Primary mathematics strategy consultant, Mathematics and Early Years local authority lead teacher, Governor of a primary school, Trustee of a multi-academy trust, Professional development trainer and writer of professional development materials for schools, local authorities and nationally. Susan has worked for Chester Diocese for 5 years and feels very privileged to work with the school leaders.

Mrs K Harvey
Welcome to Sandiway Primary School. I am Mrs Harvey and I have worked at this school since 2012. I can't believe how fast this time has gone and that I am starting my 12th year here. I have been teaching now for 22 years and have been fortunate to work with so many wonderful children, staff and parents. Each year provides new challenges and many great memories. I particularly enjoy teaching the creative aspects of the curriculum, with art and design being my passion. Outside of school, I love going on adventures with my family. We love being by the sea: rockpooling, building sand sculptures, swimming and surfing on our body boards are all high up on our list of favourite things to do.

Reception: Mrs C Forsyth
Hello, my name is Mrs Forsyth and I teach in Reception. I have been teaching for 28 years and absolutely love the Early years. I started teaching at Sandiway Primary School in 2014. I am delighted to be teaching in Reception again this year and I love working alongside Mrs Tucker, and Mrs Penney. We are a strong team and work very closely with parents so that each child feels safe and secure in their first year at school. Outside of school, I love spending time with family and friends. I have two children who keep me very busy and a rather cute guinea pig called Chewie!

Year 2: Mrs G Gotting
Hello! My name is Mrs. Gotting and I have been teaching for 18 years. I currently teach Year 2 for 2 days a week with Mrs. Harvey. I have taught in Manchester, London, Worthing, and most recently, Vietnam, where my two sons were born. In Vietnam, I led the Year 1 team in an 8-form entry school and I am extremely passionate about teaching in Key Stage One and the EYFS. I am very excited to be in Year 2 this year, helping the children grow and achieve together! My favourite subject to teach is English, and I love reading stories to my class. One of my favourite authors and illustrators is Oliver Jeffers.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling to new, exciting destinations, learning new dishes to cook, and getting stuck into craft projects.
Year 3: Mrs Katie Sparks
Hello! My name is Mrs Sparks and I will be teaching Year 3 this year. I have been teaching in KS1 for 12 years and moved back to Cheshire from Dorset in 2018. This is my 7th year teaching at Sandiway. This year, I will be completing my NPQ for Maths. I am very excited to be working as part of the Senior Leadership Team at Sandiway. I am great believer that learning should be exciting and memorable. My favourite subjects in school are Maths, Art, Geography and Me and My World. I love instilling a love for learning, confidence and resilience within the classroom. Outside of school, I have two gorgeous sausage dogs called Kali who is a wirehaired and River who is a longhaired, they are the cutest! I love spending time with my family and friends (especially my 6 nieces/nephews). I am passionate about reading and enjoy travelling, horse riding and hiking in the Lake District.
Year 4: Mr Ash Graham
Hello! My name is Mr Graham I have a range of experience teaching across both KS1 and KS2. I am extremely excited to be returning to year 4 this year and teaching at Sandiway Primary School. My philosophy for teaching is based around the growth mindset and positivity. I am a great believer in the importance of learning from our mistakes and embracing challenge. I am also extremely passionate about Computing, PE and Reading. Outside of school I love spending time exploring new places with my family. I have many hobbies and interest such as; SCUBA diving, Running, Crown Green Bowling and DIY projects including my van conversion.
Year 5: Miss Lauren Selby-Hughes
Hello! My name is Miss Selby-Hughes and I teach Year 5. This is my third year of teaching and I’m excited to get started with the year ahead. I am passionate about music and performing and love to inject these passions into the children’s learning. Outside of school, I often spend time singing with my sister and I enjoy spending time with my nieces and nephews.
Year 6: Miss Megan Burns
Hello! I am Miss Burns and I teach our wonderful Year 6 class. My favourite subjects are Maths and Science and I love reading too. My favourite children's author is Katherine Rundell. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, visiting new places and baking cakes.

Hello everyone! My name is Mrs Tucker and I have been teaching at Sandiway since 2003. I am one of the longest serving members of staff and proud of it. I will be teaching music across the school along with PE and RE. Outside school, I love to visit my husband's farm with my nephew Albie. We help milk the cows and sing as we go!

Hi! I am Liz Segrott and I work in the school office so I am usually the person at the end of the phone or email! I feel very privileged to work at Sandiway Primary School and it is an honour to work with so many fabulous children. I also lead Club Rock our wraparound childcare provision.
