SPRING TERM 2019

Recorder Club began this term with 12 children from Year 2 working after school with Mrs Atkinson and Mr Priddey. The children made great progress applying their notation reading skills, taught in the classroom to learning the correct finger positions on the descant recorder. The children performed with confidence when accompanied by Mrs Tucker in our Music Celebration Assembly.

Children from Year's 5 & 6 performed this years Easter Service at St John's Church. The children spoke and sang with confidence and clarity as the delivered the sensitive Easter story. Despite their lively performance Mr Priddey stole the show with his Easter magic trick!

KS2 Choir sang with energy and skill in an outstanding vocal perfromance at Weaverham High School Music Festival. The children had the opportunity to watch quality live instrumentaists (many who are past students) and then perform with a live orchestra. Parents, staff and additional members of the audience delivered congratulatory messages and emails for the choir. Their two part harmony of I'll Be There by Jess Glynne and lively performance of I Just Can't Wait To Be King will certainly be remembered for all the right reasons. Mrs Elliott and Mrs Tucker are extremely proud of you all!

SUMMER 2019

Sandiway and Cuddington Gala Day was most definayely brightened up by our joint performance with members of Cuddington Primary School. Despite the wind and rain the children made the community smile with their lively performance.

Infant Singing Club began this term with Mrs Tucker and Mrs Molyneux leading a range of singing games and activities with 42 children from Reception and KS1. A lively performance of actions and songs had a large audience singing along to Ca Sara sara. and Groovy Grandma.

Mrs Moss, Mr Priddey and Mrs Tucker took 15 children from the Woodwind Enssemble to Play with The Halle Orchestra at The Bridge Water Hall, Manchester. The children thoroughly enjoyed with wonderful experience and left feeling totally inspired by the talented musicians. The children were accompanied by an impressive group of family supporters who totally appreciated this special opportunity that their children had been given. The touching comments and support is greatly appreciated.

Children from Year 6 pleaded for us to return to Sandiway Manor before they left our school at the end of term and we thankfully managed to squeeze in a visit. The children performed their forthcomming songs from The Disney's Lion King Jr. Residents and staff shed tears of delight at the children's touching performance and skill. Following a chat over juice and cake with the chatty residents the children discussed their rehearsals and forthcomming move to their new High School next term. The children reluctantly said farewell and behaved in a manner that was an absolute credit to the school, their parents and themselves.

The final half term saw the KS2 team of staff and children to work closely to produce an outstanding performance of Disney'sThe Lion King Jr. Year 6 took the lead speaking roles and worked tirelessly to perfect their characterisation, diction and stage presence. Year 3, 4 & 5 created and rehearsed choreography, learnt African dialogue and multiple harmonies as they performed as animal and tribesmen in this highly energenic and colourful performance.

The children delivered a handful of outstanding performances over three days, continually growing in confidence and skill each time. Audiences were left smiling through tears of joy at what they had heard and seen. Touching comments and emails regarding our efforts are most gratefully appreciated.

Music Celebration Assembly took place on the afternoon of last day of term. We had the opportunity to celebrate those children who had gained superb examination grade in a range of instruments and listened to our Yr 6 children perform a number of pieces including a lively electic guitar piece, perrformances by the Woodwind Enssemble, Solo vocal performances and duets that has been re written. Parents, staff and children were left inspired and proud of the achievemnts that these children have accomplished and wished them the very best of luck as they continue their musical journey through high school.

This year the children have worked extremely hard during our music lessons and as a reult they have accuired a wide range of vocal  and musical skills. They have work as an individual and as part of a team. Every child ended the term having had fun and gained emotional confidence and have a lot to be proud of. I look forward to developing these skills next term as we work together to build an exciting future for us all.

Many thanks for your continued support and well-done to you all!
